“We have instructed all party members to perform shalat ghaib and tahlil prayers for the late Suryadharma Ali,” Arwani stated when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
Arwani noted that the gesture is appropriate, as Suryadharma Ali was a highly respected and influential figure within the party.
He added that the former religious affairs minister served as the PPP chairman for two terms: first from 2007 to 2012, and then from 2012 to 2016.
According to Arwani, Suryadharma Ali’s thoughts and contributions to the party and the country remain valuable legacies that should be preserved and carried forward by future generations for the betterment of the nation.
Suryadharma Ali was confirmed to have passed away on Thursday morning after receiving medical treatment at Mayapada Hospital in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
“Mr. Drs. Suryadharma Ali, M.Si, passed away today, Thursday, January 31, 2025, at 04:25 a.m. at Mayapada Hospital, Kuningan, South Jakarta,” Arwani stated.
He added that the body would be laid in repose at the family residence at Jalan Cipinang Cempedak I No. 30, Cipinang Cempedak, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.
“God willing, he will be buried after the midday prayer at the Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Complex, Jalan K.H. Ahmad, Mariuk Village, Gandasari Village, West Cikarang sub-district, Bekasi District,” Arwani stated.
