Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s former Minister of Religious Affairs for the 2009–2014 term, Suryadharma Ali, passed away on Thursday at approximately 4:18 a.m. local time at Mayapada Hospital in Jakarta.

“We kindly ask for your sincere prayers. May Allah SWT grant him a noble place in the hereafter. May he always be surrounded by divine mercy,” read a message from the late minister’s close family.

His body is being laid to rest at the family residence on Jl. Cipinang Cempedak I No.30, Cipinang Cempedak, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, 13340.

The burial is scheduled to take place at Miftahul'Ulum Islamic Boarding School, located on Jl. KH. Ahmad, Mariuk Village, RT 002/RW 008, Gandasari Village, West Cikarang Subdistrict, Bekasi District.

“On behalf of the entire family, we sincerely request your prayers and blessings so that his sins may be forgiven, his good deeds accepted, and that he may be granted the best place by Allah SWT,” the message concluded.
