Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Hasan Nasbi, has expressed the hope that the Free Health Check (CKG) program in schools will encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

“We hope this will not only serve as early detection of potential health problems in students, but also become a long-term program for a healthy lifestyle,” he said at the kick-off press conference for the CKG program in schools on Thursday.

According to Nasbi, President Prabowo Subianto is seeking to change public behavior, which has traditionally focused on seeking medical treatment only after a health condition deteriorates.

Through the CKG program, preventative measures can be implemented early, including among otherwise healthy children, he said.

“So, even when they are healthy, they should visit health facilities for check-ups to prevent future complications before it is too late,” he emphasized.

He also said he hopes that the CKG program in schools will help detect potential health problems in students early.

He informed that dental and skin problems are the most common among students.

“According to information from the Minister of Health, many dental problems are found in these students. Followed by skin health problems. These can be prevented as early as possible by conducting outreach checks in these schools,” he added.

He said that his party will support the implementation of the CKG program, which will be launched on August 4, 2025, by sending key experts and a spokesperson to accompany Cabinet members reviewing the program’s implementation in schools.

The government has confirmed that the CKG program will begin in schools on August 4 and target 53.8 million children.

“We hope this program can reach 53.8 million students in 282 thousand educational institutions,” Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said.

According to Sadikin, the health checkups will cover elementary to high schools, along with Islamic schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs andSekolah Rakyat under the Social Affairs Ministry.
