"The target participants for the Free Health Check in Schools program for the 2025-2026 period are 1,997,082 people, consisting of elementary to high school students, aged 7 to 17 years. This program also applies to children who cannot access formal education or are not in school," Head of the Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati stated when contacted by an ANTARA journalist in Jakarta on Monday.
Ruspitawati explained that the School CKG program is a rebranding of the health screening program for school-age children and adolescents, which has been routinely conducted every academic year for elementary to high school students aged 7 to 17 years.
The program targets not only school students but also children aged 7 to 17 years who are out of school or without access to formal education.
Before the program's implementation, she stated that the Jakarta Health Office and its staff had participated in outreach and orientation activities for healthcare workers about the School CKG program organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
The Health Office then conducted outreach activities to promote the School CKG program, involving Community Health Centers (Puskesmas), the Health Sub-Department, the Social Welfare Bureau of the Jakarta Provincial Secretariat, the Social Services Office, the Education Office, and schools in Jakarta.
"The Health Office has prepared the necessary medical equipment and disposable medical supplies (BMHP), funded by both the regional and national budgets," she stated.
Ruspitawati noted that the School CKG program began this year at Sentra Handayani People's School in Cipayung, East Jakarta, on July 9, followed by Sentra Mulya Jaya Sentra People's School in Cipayung and the Margaguna Center for Education, Training, and Professional Development (Pusdiklatbangprof) in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on July 14.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Health stated that after its implementation in People's Schools (Sekolah Rakyat), the CKG School program will be rolled out to schools under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikasmen), and in August 2025, will continue to Islamic schools (madrasah). The program will also target Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and other religious educational institutions.
The program is one of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's quick win programs and represents the largest health screening program ever run by the government.
As the main target of the program, the Ministry of Health is aiming for 53 million students by 2025.
