This initiative was formalized through the signing of agreements for the distribution of financial aid under the LPTK Quality Enhancement Program in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 30), according to a statement cited on Friday.
“Teachers are key to educational transformation. Through this program, we aim to ensure that each LPTK can produce professional and competent educators with leadership skills and the ability to innovate,” Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto stated.
The ministry’s Director of Strategies and Transformative Learning Systems, Ardi Findyartini, emphasized the importance of optimally utilizing the funds, which are disbursed as grants, to bring about concrete improvements in the quality of teacher education nationwide.
She urged the 17 universities to set long-term goals for developing their teacher education services.
“In addition to pursuing top accreditation status, it is equally important for LPTKs to ensure continuous improvements in their education quality,” Findyartini affirmed.
She highlighted that the primary goal of the LPTK enhancement initiative is to drive comprehensive transformation in teacher education, targeting not only the adequacy of infrastructure but also more relevant and progressive pedagogical systems.
The official stressed that this program reflects the government’s recognition of the vital role played by LPTKs in producing teachers who can advance Indonesia’s education sector.
“Therefore, it is crucial for LPTKs to design long-term programs that aim for far-reaching and sustainable impacts to foster a better ecosystem for teacher education to grow,” she affirmed.
Among the 17 universities granted funds are Ahmad Dahlan University, Ganesha Education University, Makassar State University, Pasundan University, Jakarta State University, Jambi University, Satya Wacana Christian University of Salatiga, and Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra.
