The announcement was made at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday.
"Mr. Prabowo Subianto has signed the letter of appointment for @sugiono_56 as Secretary General of the Gerindra Party," Muzani wrote via his personal Instagram account @ahmadmuzani2 on Friday.
He stated that the signing marked the end of his tenure as Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, a position he had held since the party’s founding in 2008, and the beginning of Sugiono's term, who also currently serves as Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"With the decision effective from the date it was signed, my role as Secretary General, which I have held for more than 17 years, since the party was founded on February 6, 2008, until August 1, 2025, has officially been handed over to Sugiono," Muzani said.
Muzani, who now serves as the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) also announced that he has now been entrusted with the role of Secretary to the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Honorary Council of the Gerindra Party.
He expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo, who also serves as the Chair of the Gerindra Party’s Board of Trustees, as well as to all party members for the trust they placed in him throughout his term in office.
Lastly, Muzani offered his apologies for any shortcomings or mistakes that may have occurred during his tenure as Secretary General.
Previously on February 13, Gerindra Party held an Extraordinary National Congress in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, during which Prabowo Subianto was re-elected as Chairman of the Gerindra Party Central Board (DPP) for the 2025–2030 term.
