“Today I planted a tree near the IKN Titik Nol (Zero Point). The goal is to encourage the realization of IKN's vision to truly become a green city in the future,” Minister Karding said in the ministry's press statement here on Sunday.
He emphasized that the planting activity was not merely a ceremonial event, but a concrete effort to ensure that the development of IKN establishes an environmentally friendly ecosystem and sets an example for other cities.
“A green (city), with the focus on becoming a model for urban environmental development,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono, who accompanied Minister Karding during the event, welcomed the involvement of various parties in the sustainable development of the capital, including from non-technical ministries and agencies such as the P2MI Ministry.
According to him, cross-sector collaboration is key for IKN Nusantara Capital City to grow into an inclusive and environmentally-friendly city of the future.
The tree planting activity is part of the effort to balance the acceleration of infrastructure development with environmental preservation in the core area of IKN.
Earlier, the OIKN announced that a budget of around Rp48.8 trillion has been approved for the project to develop the nation’s new capital which is located in East Kalimantan.
The funds will finance the construction of key infrastructure during the second phase of the project, thereby laying the foundation for developing Nusantara as Indonesia’s political capital by 2028.
