"Of course, here we are competing against players from various countries, many of whom have higher rankings. This is definitely good preparation for us heading into the SEA Games," Ariotedjo said at the Bali Beach Country Club tennis court here on Sunday.
The Amman Men’s World Tennis Championship, held across seven series, began with the Universal Tennis Rating Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) and concludes with the International Tennis Federation World Tennis Tour (ITF WTT).
On the occasion, Minister Ariotedjo attended the final of the Amman Men’s World Tennis Championship ITF Men’s Futures M15, held from July 28 to August 3, which offered a total prize of US$15,000.
In the doubles category, Indonesian players Renaldi Aqila A. Salim and Gunawan Trismuwantara finished as runners-up.
According to Ariotedjo , the ITF tournaments held in Bali will greatly benefit the development of national tennis. He noted that this international-level competition offers great opportunities for local players to face opponents with higher global rankings.
"This offers a chance for better preparation, and I am confident this will have a very significant impact on the development of Indonesian tennis athletes," he added.
He expressed hope that the presence of international-standard tennis venues and the consistent hosting of ITF tournaments in Indonesia will help produce national players capable of competing on the global stage.
"I am confident that world-class Indonesian tennis athletes will emerge," he remarked.
