Tangerang (ANTARA) - Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Hasan Nasbi, announced that the Free Health Check Program (Cek Kesehatan Gratis/CKG), which now includes proactive school visits, aims to reach up to 53 million students across Indonesia.

“Today, the government is actively visiting schools to conduct health checks for students at the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels and their equivalents,” Hasan stated during the kickoff event for the CKG program at State Senior High School 6 (SMAN 6) in South Tangerang on Monday.

He explained that the program was launched simultaneously at 12 locations across Indonesia as an expansion of the initiative first introduced in February 2025.

Hasan stated that the program marks a significant shift in the country’s healthcare strategy—from curative to promotive and preventive approaches.

During his visit, he observed the health screening process, which included fitness tests, dental, vision, and hearing checks, height and weight measurements, questionnaires, and blood tests.

The screening identified several cases requiring further attention.

“Two students were found to have blood pressure readings above 140. This could be an early warning sign that needs prompt intervention to prevent serious conditions in the future,” Hasan noted.

He also drew attention to dental and ear health issues among some students. One student had a bleeding ear from improper cleaning, while others had moist ear canals, increasing their risk of infection.

According to Hasan, these findings underline the importance of early health education.

He encouraged collaboration among schools, public health centers (puskesmas), and local health offices to teach students essential health practices, such as correct toothbrushing, ear care, healthy eating habits, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
