Lampung Timur (ANTARA) - Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Dwita Ria Gunadi, calls for continued improvement in the quality of services under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and its expansion to more schools.

"This program is very good, and we hope the quality of its services will continue to improve, not only in terms of nutrition and hygiene but also in terms of quantity to meet students' needs," she noted in a statement received here on Friday.

After reviewing the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals program at SMPN 1 Batanghari and SMAN 1 Batanghari, East Lampung District, she noted that the program has had a significant impact on school children.

"I have seen that the children are more enthusiastic about learning. They no longer buy random snacks and generally look healthier," she remarked.

She remarked that the program is part of President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to improving the welfare and quality of Indonesia's young generation through direct intervention in the education and nutrition sectors.

"Our visit to this school also aims to directly ensure the implementation of the MBG program, which is one of the President of the Republic of Indonesia's priority programs to support the nutritional needs of school children throughout Indonesia," she noted.

One of the students at SMPN 1 Batanghari, Andhira Ramadhani, said she was glad to receive nutritious meals regularly provided by the government.

"At school, we study all day until 3 p.m. I used to be hungry during the day. Now, thank God, we have healthy lunches from school," she remarked.

Another student, Fariz Prawira, also welcomed the program, saying it was beneficial for him and the other students. However, he expressed disappointment that the rice portions for boys were insufficient.

"The program is good. However, honestly, the rice portions are not enough for male students," he remarked.
