The deputy commander position, which had been vacant since 2000, was reinstated under Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 84 of 2025, amending Perpres No. 6 of 2009 on the TNI organizational structure.
General Revita, the first TNI deputy commander in 25 years, previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD). A 1991 graduate of the Military Academy, the 56-year-old general has also held key positions at the Ministry of Defense.
On the occasion, President Prabowo also swore in leaders of various units within the Ministry of Defense and conferred honorary general titles on several retired TNI officers, including Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
He further inaugurated Lieutenant General Djon Afriandi as TNI-AD Special Force Command (Kopassus) Commander, Lieutenant General Endi Supardi as Marine Corps Commander, and Vice Marshal Deny Muis as Rapid Action Forces Corps (Kopasgat) Commander.
Meanwhile, Vice Marshal Andyawan Martono Putra was appointed as Commander of the National Air Defense Command, a newly formed Air Force (TNI-AU) unit.
The expansion also included the launch of six new TNI-AD regional military commands, 14 naval regional commands, three TNI-AU regional commands, one air operation command, six Kopassus groups, 20 territorial development brigades, and one marine infantry brigade.
Additionally, President Prabowo announced one Kopasgat regiment, 100 territorial development battalions, five marine infantry battalions, and five Kopasgat battalions.
The head of state launched all the new military units by pressing a ceremonial siren button, followed by a cannon salute.
The ceremonies took place at the Center for Education and Training of the Kopassus.
