Speaking at a military ceremony at the Armed Forces Education and Training Center in West Bandung District, West Java, on Sunday, Prabowo said that elite individuals promoted as commanders are the chosen few with true leadership qualities.
“As leaders, you must lead from the frontlines. The TNI commander, troop commanders, brigade commanders, and battalion commanders must lead from the frontline, among their troops — always in the most dangerous places, always in the most critical situations,” Prabowo told the ceremony.
He stressed that no leader should command from behind their subordinates. “Being a leader means being the best soldier and setting a shining example for everyone,” he said.
Prabowo also urged the newly appointed commanders to take the utmost care of their troops.
“Guide your subordinates as best you can. Treat them like your own children. Lead them well. Train them well. Train them with discipline, but do not resort to cruelty,” he emphasized.
He further reminded the commanders that the armed forces exist by, from, and for the people.
“We dedicate ourselves to the people. We fight for the people, and we are ready to die for the people,” he remarked.
During the ceremony, President Prabowo appointed several new commanders and inaugurated new military command areas and organizational units within the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Those sworn in included General Tandyo Budi Revita as TNI Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General Djon Afriandi as Commander of the Special Forces (Kopassus), and Lieutenant General Endi Supardi as Commander of the Marine Corps (TNI AL).
Air Marshal Deny Muis was appointed Commander of the Rapid Action Forces Corps (Kopasgat), while Air Marshal Andyawan Martono Putra was named Commander of the newly established National Air Defense Command of the Air Force (TNI-AU).
