Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Monday bestowed the country's highest honor — the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna (Adipurna Star) — on visiting Peruvian President Dina Boluarte for her role in strengthening bilateral ties.
"Today, I have awarded the highest honor from our country, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, to the Peruvian president for her significant service and role in strengthening friendship and cooperation between our countries," Prabowo said at a joint press conference at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Boluarte wore the distinguished sash, draped from her right shoulder to her left waist, during the ceremony.
The award presentation coincided with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia–Peru diplomatic relations and marked the first state visit by a Peruvian president to Indonesia.
Prabowo also reflected on receiving Peru's highest honor — the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru — from Boluarte during his visit to Lima in November 2024, calling it "an honor for the entire Indonesian nation."
During the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of key agreements, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and a joint declaration marking 50 years of cooperation.
They also pledged to deepen collaboration in food, mining, energy transition, fisheries, defense, and efforts to combat drug-related crimes and illegal trade.
