Director of machinery and agricultural machinery equipment industry at the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry, Solehan, said that the IMC aims to accelerate technology downstreaming and produce machinery that aligns with Indonesian trends and technological needs.
“Through the strengthening of the IMC, the government is also preparing incentives such as super tax deductions for industries that invest in research and development,” he said in Bandung on Tuesday.
He added that all stakeholders can explore the potential and opportunities for industrial product research collaboration by utilizing IMC facilities.
“Solid collaboration is expected to generate innovations that can address contemporary challenges and market demands, enabling the national machinery and agricultural machinery equipment industry to become a key pillar in fostering national independence and competitiveness,” Solehan added.
Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, inaugurated the IMC building in Purwakarta district, West Java, in October 2024.
Equipped with infrastructure, institutional support, human resources, machinery, equipment, and an industrial manufacturing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system, the facility is meant to be a collaborative hub for developing and using technology.
“The IMC can act as a catalyst for the Machine Making Machine (3M) program through a Pentahelix collaboration between the government, industry, universities, research institutions, and the community,” the minister said.
The facility was also established as a part of efforts to accelerate the 3M program.
The manufacturing hub is being encouraged to collaborate with industries and form partnerships for designing and developing machinery under a joint mechanism until the industries become capable of producing complete machinery independently.
