Hamdan Hamedan, an expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), conveyed this during a discussion hosted by the Indonesian Diaspora Network – United (IDN-U) in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 13).
"Poverty should not be inherited. All of President Prabowo’s programs are people-oriented and interconnected, aimed at building citizens’ dignity from birth and helping them achieve self-reliance," he stated in a press release cited here on Thursday.
He highlighted five government priority programs: Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Health Checks (CKG), Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools), Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP), and the construction of three million homes.
According to Hamedan, these programs complement one another, reflecting the government’s commitment to providing assistance from the first 1,000 days of life. He illustrated this approach with the story of Ani, a young girl from a humble family.
From the time Ani is in the womb, the government safeguards her growth by preventing stunting and meeting her nutritional needs through the MBG program.
She continues to receive free nutritious meals throughout her school years, enabling her to focus on studies and stay healthy. She also attends school at no cost under the Sekolah Rakyat program and benefits from free health examinations under the CKG program.
Meanwhile, the Red and White Village Cooperative offers Ani’s father access to affordable loans to start a business, shielding him from loan sharks. As the family’s finances improve, they can access the three million homes program to purchase a decent house.
The PCO official emphasized that these five programs are already running and will be further refined, with the ultimate goal of eliminating extreme poverty as soon as possible.
"We have reached a historic milestone in our fight against extreme poverty. This is not just a dream—it is a promise we are committed to fulfilling," he stressed.
