Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia welcomed parliament speakers of fellow ASEAN countries at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta for the People's Consultative Assembly's (MPR's) Annual Session, where President Prabowo Subianto presented his first annual state address on Friday.

The president acknowledged the parliament speakers at the start of his state address before the MPR Annual Session, along with former presidents and vice presidents and parliamentary party leaders.

Among the parliament speakers attending the MPR Annual Session was Johari Abdul, Speaker of Malaysia's Dewan Rakyat, who is also currently serving as President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Other attending parliamentary leaders included Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore; Maria Fernanda Lay, Speaker of the National Parliament of Timor-Leste; and Abdul Rahman Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam.

The four speakers were invited by Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, who personally welcomed their arrival at the Parliament Complex. They also took a group photo at the parliament's Nusantara lobby before proceeding to the joint session chamber.

The People's Consultative Assembly's Annual Session and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) took place at the Parliament Complex here on Friday.

During the joint session that takes place on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Indonesian independence, President Prabowo will present his first annual state address and report on his government's performance to the nation.

On Friday afternoon, the president will present his second address on the 2026 State Budget before the plenary session of the DPR.
