Prabowo appeared in a black suit with a white shirt and light blue tie, complemented by a black peci hat, while Gibran wore a similar outfit but left his head uncovered. The vice president initially sported a red tie but later switched to match the president’s color choice.
Their appearance marked a break from the tradition maintained by Seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Thirteenth Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who consistently wore traditional attire at MPR annual sessions.
In their final session in 2024, Jokowi and Amin showcased Betawi traditional clothing. The former vice president preferred the same style in 2023, while the former president donned Tanimbar attire from Maluku.
In 2022, Jokowi wore Paksian, a traditional costume from the Bangka Belitung Islands, while Amin dressed in garb typical of Surakarta nobles.
President Prabowo arrived at the Parliamentary Complex at around 8:32 a.m. local time aboard the Indonesia-made customized tactical vehicle Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine. Vice President Gibran, in a similar car, arrived earlier at 8:18 a.m.
The eighth president is scheduled to deliver his first annual state address during the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representative Council (DPD), highlighting the government’s performance in its first 10 months in office.
He will also present a speech on the 2026 State Budget at a DPR plenary session in the afternoon.
These sessions are part of a series of events marking Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day anniversary, themed “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, and Advanced Indonesia.”
