Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta police said traffic remained normal during the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Friday, with no major disruptions reported.

"Overall, traffic today is normal," Jakarta Metropolitan Police's Traffic Director Commissioner Komarudin told journalists prior to the opening of the annual session.

He admitted that there was an increase in vehicles entering the House of Representatives (DPR) complex due to official invitations, but the traffic flow went smoothly.

There were no significant bottlenecks around the area, and traffic conditions were similar to any regular weekday, he said.

"Typical morning congestion occurred at office access points like Sudirman and Thamrin, but nothing unusual," he said while emphasizing that no road closures were implemented, except for limited access control around the DPR building.

The 2025 Annual Session of the MPR and Joint Session of the DPR and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) took place at the Nusantara Building during which President Prabowo Subianto delivered a state address.

The head of state also delivered a report on the performance of state institutions as part of events marking Indonesia's 80th Independence Day, themed "United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia."

According to the House's Commission III chair, Habiburokhman, President Prabowo would highlight his priority programmes, including the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) and Sekolah Rakyat, in his state address.

Since it is his first state address since his presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024, President Prabowo also put spotlight on Red-and-White Cooperatives, food barn, as well as the law enforcement and anti-corruption crusade, Habiburokhman said.

"We see how the legal practice now goes under President Prabowo's leadership in which the law has no longer been used for political gain, and the law is no longer enforced only for political rivals but enforced to all equally, and fairly" the senior lawmaker said.

Meanwhile, unlike the 2024 Annual Session where their predecessors wore traditional attires, President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka dressed in coordinated dark suits and light blue ties.

They appeared in matching light blue ties during this year's annual session.
