Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the House of Representatives (DPR) has played a crucial role in helping the government achieve equitable efficiency in the state budget, in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.

“In its budgeting function, the DPR has supported the government in realizing equitable efficiency in our state budget,” he said in his State of the Nation Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Friday.

Prabowo noted that the DPR’s contribution was also evident in the drafting of the 2026 Draft State Budget. He is scheduled to deliver another speech focusing specifically on the 2026 Draft State Budget and its financial notes at a DPR plenary session later in the day.

According to the president, during the 2024–2029 legislative period, the DPR has so far deliberated and passed 14 bills.

It has also established the 2025 National Legislation Program and the 2025–2029 Medium-Term National Legislation Program, ensuring that the planning, drafting, and discussion of the draft state budget proceed in a focused and measured manner.

Prabowo added that the DPR has carried out its supervisory role extensively through 26 Oversight Working Committees and three Oversight Teams.

The 2025 MPR Annual Session was held alongside the Joint Session of the DPR and the Regional Representative Council (DPD), ahead of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day on August 17.

This year’s commemoration carries the theme "United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, and Advanced Indonesia"

Friday’s event was attended by several former national leaders, including Seventh President Joko Widodo, Sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno, Tenth and Twelfth Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Eleventh Vice President Boediono, and Thirteenth Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
