This was announced by the President in his speech on the 2026 Draft State Budget and the financial notes at the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, of the total, Rp53.3 trillion (around US$3.29 billion) will be prepared for food estates and food reserves.
Furthermore, the government is planning to provide 9.62 million subsidized fertilizers with a budget of Rp46.9 trillion (approximately US$2.89 billion). Meanwhile, Rp22.7 trillion (around US$1.4 billion) is allocated to support the state-run logistics company Bulog.
"We are strengthening Bulog as the food stock supporter, farmers' protector, and the guardian of people's purchasing power," he remarked.
He noted that the government's step of simplifying regulations for the distribution of subsidized fertilizers has resulted in an increase in rice production, with current rice stocks at the government's warehouses reaching above 4 million tons.
President Prabowo assessed that food security is a fundamental thing as the foundation of the nation's self-reliance.
"We must achieve food self-sufficiency, especially for rice and corn ... Indonesia must be sovereign in food matters," he emphasized.
He further said that one of the steps to realize food sovereignty is establishing new rice fields. Apart from that, the government will also distribute subsidized fertilizers accurately targeting the eligible beneficiaries.
In addition, the government will also provide support in the form of providing superior seeds, modern agricultural tools, easy financing access for farmers, as well as ensuring the government purchase price (HPP) for unhusked rice.
