"The strategy begins with developing digital talent through national training programs, partnerships with universities," Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said in a statement that ANTARA received in Jakarta on Friday.
The efforts to develop the digital talent are also made by collaborating with global tech firms for knowledge and skills transfer, she said.
The government aims to cultivate AI professionals capable of driving innovation, shifting Indonesia’s role from technology user to technology producer.

"With this strategy, we hope to strengthen digital sovereignty and elevate Indonesia's standing in the global digital economy," Hafid said.
Beyond talent development, the government will bolster digital infrastructure to support AI research, adoption, and deployment across public services and strategic industries.
"This infrastructure is a critical foundation for AI innovation across sectors," she added.
President Prabowo Subianto, in his state address ahead of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day, underscored the importance of mastering science and technology, including AI, to advance the nation.
"We must master AI. This requires producing exceptional talent and improving the quality of education," Prabowo said at the Parliament building in Jakarta.
