"Thank God, we have arrived in Egypt and immediately inspected the condition of the assistance packages, checking their quantities and storage, and preparing to pack them with wooden containers suitable for air and land deliveries," Baznas Deputy Head Mo Machdum said.
In a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday, he noted that Baznas would begin packing the aid once the Egyptian Ministry of Defense issues flight permits into the Gaza Strip, adding that the goods has been stored in the warehouse for months.
"Praise be to God, most of the goods are ready to be distributed from Egypt," he emphasized. "Our hope is for this aid to arrive quickly and bring direct benefits to our brothers and sisters in Palestine."
Machdum pointed out that the state philanthropic agency had partnered with various stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery, including the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Cairo.
"The distribution of aid managed by Baznas is coordinated by the KBRI as the official representative of the Indonesian government," he said, noting that the agency is also coordinating with Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity at the embassy's recommendation.
He added that Baznas had also collaborated with fellow alms agencies in Egypt. Furthermore, the agency is planning to convene with the Mish Al Kheir philanthropic institute and the Egyptian Red Crescent to address administrative matters crucial for the aid delivery to Palestine.
He affirmed that Baznas is committed to overseeing the aid distribution to ensure it reaches those in need in Palestine.
"This is a testament to the solidarity of the Indonesian nation with the people of Gaza. We also ask for prayers from all Indonesians so that the distribution process goes smoothly," Machdum concluded.
