The symbolic distribution of rice under the government’s Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program was carried out by Jayawijaya Deputy Police Chief Commissioner I Wayan Laba, accompanied by Head of Bulog Wamena Branch, Stephanus Kurniawan, at GPdI Agape Congregation Church in Wamena on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
In a written statement released on Friday, Commissioner Laba said the initiative was part of efforts to maintain food price stability in the region.
Supported by Bulog, the program provided three tons of rice packaged in five-kilogram bags and sold at Rp13,500 per kilogram.
“The affordable food program with Bulog’s SPHP rice has run smoothly, and people were very pleased to buy rice at an affordable price,” Laba said.
He emphasized the importance of strong synergy between the police and Bulog to help the community access quality food at reasonable prices.
Meanwhile, Bulog Wamena Branch Head Stephanus Kurniawan expressed appreciation for the cooperation, saying the initiative helped ease the burden on residents amid fluctuating staple food prices.
“This program reflects the commitment of both the police and Bulog to support regional food security while providing direct benefits to the community,” he said.
