Mempawah, Kalimantan Barat (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged the public not to believe false information or hoaxes claiming that construction of the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN), in East Kalimantan has been stalled.

“I believe all of you, Dayak community, the Red Troops, support the construction of IKN. Please do not be misled by hoaxes saying that IKN has stalled or the project is no longer continuing,” said Gibran.

The Vice President explained that, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment, the government is working to ensure that national development is no longer concentrated on the island of or Java-centric.

Therefore, the development of Nusantara continues so that other regions can strengthen their fiscal capacity and experience greater economic growth.

He emphasized that the development of IKN is not just about building the State Palace or Presidential Palace, but also symbolizes equitable development that is no longer centered on Java.

Gibran, the eldest son of Indonesia’s seventh president Joko Widodo, also noted that he personally visited IKN just a month ago to ensure the construction continues to make progress as planned.

“I want to reaffirm once again that the construction of IKN will definitely continue and will be completed. Just a month ago, I visited IKN and the construction is going well, everything is on progress. What remains is the construction of the judicial and legislative buildings,” he added.

In May 2025, Gibran confirmed that the development of IKN in parts of Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara Districts, East Kalimantan Province, aligns with the vision of establishing a new capital city.

“We conducted a site visit to ensure that IKN construction is proceeding in accordance with the grand vision of establishing a new capital,” he said during his visit to IKN in Sepaku Sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara District.
