Manado (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) has introduced the “Love, Proud, and Understand Rupiah” (CBP Rupiah) program to communities living along the Indonesia–Philippines border in North Sulawesi.

“We continue to carry out education and outreach so that people will increasingly love, take pride in, and understand the rupiah,” said Head of BI’s North Sulawesi Representative Office, Joko Supratikto, in Manado, North Sulawesi, on Tuesday.

Joko explained that through the 2025 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition (ERP) program, BI aims to ensure that people in border regions have the same level of understanding of the rupiah as those in urban areas.

“We deliver this education even to remote, outermost, and frontier regions,” he added.

According to Joko, loving the rupiah means recognizing its design and characteristics, treating it properly, and protecting it from counterfeiting.

Being proud of the rupiah represents awareness of the currency as a legitimate means of payment, a symbol of Indonesia’s sovereignty, and a unifying factor for the nation.

Meanwhile, understanding the rupiah reflects the ability to use it in transactions, support economic stability, and recognize its function as a store of value. In other words, the three aspects of understanding are using it for transactions, shopping, and saving.

Earlier, the 2025 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition team, in collaboration with the Indonesian Navy, visited Karakitang Island, Nusa Island, Marore Island, Kabaruang Island, and Karatung Island in Sangihe and Talaud Districts, which directly border the Philippines.
