"We detailed the Second NDC plan with three scenarios: 6.3 percent, 7 percent, and 8 percent economic growth," he said in a meeting for the preparation of the Indonesian delegation to participate in the UN Climate Change Conference COP30 here on Wednesday.
While Indonesia's targets set in the Enhanced NDC are to reduce GHG emissions by 31.89 percent with its own efforts and 43.2 percent with international support, the figures in the Second NDC document will be more definite.
He explained that the emission reduction target will be in line with economic growth projections, though he did not give details on the numbers.
The government acknowledged that economic growth is accompanied by an increase in emissions from sectors that have been included in the Second NDC document.
In the document, there are two sectors that are still set as the main targets for emission reduction efforts, given their position as the biggest contributors to emissions, namely the forestry and energy sectors.
For the forestry sector, the government has set a target to achieve the Forestry and Other Land Uses (FOLU) Net Sink, a condition where the carbon absorbed is greater than the emissions in the FOLU sector, by 2030.
As for the energy sector, the government is focusing on efforts to realize a just energy transition and energy conservation.
The deputy minister has also ensured that Indonesia would submit the Second NDC document before President Prabowo Subianto attended the UN General Assembly meeting on September 23, 2025.
Furthermore, he noted that Indonesia is currently preparing the National Adaptation Plan regarding climate change, which is planned to be submitted to the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in late 2025.
