According to a press release from the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) in Jakarta on Thursday, the meeting took place on Wednesday (August 27) as part of the navy's Kartika Jala Krida (KJK) goodwill voyage, centered on the training ship KRI Bima Suci.
"KRI Bima Suci is currently on the KJK 2025 goodwill voyage, which is a diplomatic mission with Sattahip City as the fourth stop," Wahjono stated in the release.
During the courtesy call, the Indonesian and Thai navies explored opportunities for military and non-military cooperation to further strengthen relations between the two nations.
"We hope this diplomatic visit will lead to stronger cooperation and bonds between the TNI AL and the Royal Thai Navy," the rear admiral remarked.
KRI Bima Suci departed on the KJK 2025 goodwill voyage from the Military Naval Command (Kolinlamil) base in North Jakarta on August 6, carrying navy cadets from 21 countries participating in the ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail.
Throughout the annual voyage, the participants will sail across the waters of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Brunei Darussalam, visiting Surabaya, Jakarta, Padang, Penang, Sattahip, Tarakan, and Makassar, before returning to Surabaya at the end.
In a separate release, Head of the TNI AL Information Office Commodore Tunggul confirmed that the training ship arrived in Sattahip on Wednesday.
He added that during the visit, the crew would take part in a range of activities, including a facility tour, a deck reception, and a visit to the Royal Thai Naval Academy, in addition to the courtesy call.
