Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Banten on Thursday, Prabowo recalled his remarks during the People’s Consultative Assembly’s annual session on August 15, where he promised not to shield members of his party, Gerindra, from legal consequences.
“I said I wouldn’t protect anyone from Gerindra who breaks the law. A few days later, a member was arrested. He’s a member, but not a full cadre,” he said at the Indonesian District Governments Association (Apkasi) event.
Although he did not name the individual, Prabowo appeared to refer to former Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer, who was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on August 20 for alleged extortion in a workplace safety certification case.

Prabowo described the incident as unfortunate, suggesting that the individual may have acted recklessly and failed to consider the impact on his family.
Alluding to Indonesia’s ongoing fight against corruption, Prabowo urged regional leaders across the country to uphold integrity in governance.
“History has shown that no nation can thrive under a corrupt administration,” he said.
“As Indonesians, no matter which party we come from, we must dare to correct our mistakes,” he affirmed.
Emphasizing that fair, indiscriminate law enforcement is non-negotiable, President Prabowo called on state officials at all levels to serve the people by ensuring clean and just governance.
