In a statement on Thursday, the Air Force explained that the simulation was part of the Super Garuda Shield (SGS) 2025 Multinational Joint Exercise.
Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Office, Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana, said the exercise took place on Wednesday (August 27) at Drop Zone BR 45 of the Indonesian Army Combat Training Center in Baturaja, South Sumatra.
"This is part of the SGS. These training activities will continue throughout the exercise," Suadnyana noted.
He said the Indonesian Air Force deployed a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft from Air Squadron 32, while the US Air Force deployed another C-130 to carry troops to the drop zone.
Before the parachute operation, troops from the three countries carried out a Forward Control Operation (KDOL) on Tuesday (August 26).
According to Suadnyana, the KDOL simulated reconnaissance of enemy territory to determine the drop point. Once the location was set, the data was sent to headquarters as the designated site for the soldiers.
In the operation, 129 joint troops parachuted from a height of 400 meters and landed to infiltrate the airport.
"The 129 troops included personnel from Denmatra 1 Kopasgat, the 330th Para Raider Infantry Battalion from Kostrad, the US Army’s 1st Special Forces Group and 11th Airborne Division, and the JASDF’s 1st Brigade SQ Company Paratroopers," he said.
Suadnyana added that the entire series of exercises went safely and expressed hope that the training would strengthen each country’s military capabilities while reinforcing defense ties between the three nations.
