“The presence of a reading corner at the school, which was established in 2023 with sixty students, is expected to provide a means to nurture a literacy culture from an early age,” Eva said while inspecting the reading corner at SDN 10 Namang on Saturday.
She explained that the reading corner not only provides reading materials but also becomes a space for fostering a passion for literacy through collaboration among various parties.
“I hope this reading corner can be well utilized and receive full support from the government,” she added.
Eva also encouraged the active involvement of parent associations to accompany children in weekly reading activities.
She expressed her appreciation for the synergy of multiple parties in establishing the reading corner, including the Namang Sub-district TP PKK, students from the Community Service Program (KKN) of IAIN Syaikh Abdurrahman Siddik (SAS) Bangka Belitung, the Community Service (PKM) team of the Faculty of Sharia Economics at IAIN SAS, as well as support from the regional and provincial Archives and Library Offices.
Chairperson of Namang Sub-district TP PKK, Kiki Listari, hopes the reading corner will serve as a motivator for SDN 10 Namang students to develop a greater interest in reading.
“This is an important initial motivation. Hopefully, the reading corner can become a place for children to expand their knowledge and insight,” she said.
In addition to providing books, the reading corner is designed as an interactive space where students are accustomed to discussing and sharing reading experiences.
“In this way, literacy is not only understood as reading but also as building critical thinking skills,” she added.
