"Kang Acil Bimbo has returned to the bosom of his Creator at 10:22 p.m. local time. May Allah forgive him and grant him the best place by His side,” the message from Acil's family read.
His daughter, Sofia Yulinar, confirmed to ANTARA that Acil passed away at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung, West Java.
His body was taken to a funeral home on Jalan Biologi No. 4 in the Cigadung area of Bandung, where it will lie in state before burial.
Acil will be laid to rest in Cipageran, Cimahi, on Tuesday (September 2).
Born on August 20, 1943, Raden Darmawan Dajat Hardjakusumah SH MKn—affectionately known as Acil Bimbo—was the second of seven siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Ernawati, four children, and several grandchildren, including two granddaughters, Hasyakyla Utami and Adhisty Zara, both former members of the idol group JKT48.
Acil’s musical style was shaped by global influences such as Robin Gibb, the Everly Brothers, Cliff Richard, Tommy Steele, the Mills Brothers, and Paul Anka.
Beyond music, he was deeply engaged in social and cultural advocacy.
In 2000, he founded the non-governmental organization "Bandung Spirit" and served as a mentor and advisor to various cultural and social institutions.
Throughout his life, Acil remained active in organizing and participating in initiatives that promoted cultural dialogue and social development, both in Indonesia and abroad.
