“The Ministry of PKP is encouraging future housing initiatives to prioritize not only availability but also sustainability,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday.
He emphasized that renewable energy will play a key role in creating greener, energy-independent residential areas. The integration of clean energy is seen as essential to developing modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly housing.
The Ministry of PKP has also reiterated its support for the government’s target of achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060, while enhancing community well-being through decent, healthy, and sustainable housing.
As previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that the government is opening opportunities for developers of smart modular homes based on NZE principles to participate in the 3 million-home development program.
“We welcome collaborative efforts. There is a clear government need—particularly through the Ministry of PKP’s programs—to build homes for communities in both rural and urban areas,” AHY said.
The ministry is set to hold discussions with PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) to explore the potential of modular housing within the government’s housing initiative.
AHY noted that smart, NZE-based modular housing offers a viable solution to address the climate crisis, global warming, and the 2060 NZE target.
He also expressed hope that the environmentally friendly housing program will continue to expand, helping to reduce Indonesia’s housing backlog.
