Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto held talks on sovereign wealth fund (SWF) management with former Mongolian prime minister and founder of the Chinggis Fund, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.

In their meeting on Friday (August 29), Oyun-Erdene shared his experiences from the 2021–2025 premiership, including the creation of Mongolia’s SWF, with President Prabowo.

“It was a pleasure to share knowledge and insights from Mongolia that can inform Indonesia's own growth journey,” Oyun-Erdene said in a statement received on Monday.

He explained that the establishment of the Chinggis Khan Sovereign Wealth Fund is central to Mongolia’s economic transformation, designed to stabilize the economy and save resources for future generations.

The fund also plays a key role in the country’s long-term sustainable development strategy outlined in “Mongolia Vision 2050,” the former premier noted.

During the talks, Oyun-Erdene stressed that effective governance structures are vital for SWFs to promote long-term national prosperity.

He also expressed commitment to expand Chinggis Fund’s success with international partners, including Indonesia, which launched its own SWF, Danantara Indonesia, earlier this year.

“I am proud to have established it as prime minister and will continue to celebrate its success with our regional partners,” he remarked.

Mongolia established the Chinggis Khan Sovereign Wealth Fund in May 2024 as a financial institution to manage state revenues from the country’s vast natural resources.

The fund, named after Genghis Khan, the hero of the Mongolian nation and the founder of the Mongol Empire, had accumulated at least 4 billion tugriks (US$1.1 billion) by the end of 2024.
