The visit, which began around 10 p.m. local time, was announced in a statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat on Thursday.
Gibran first stopped at the RW (Community Unit) 07 post in Kwitang Village, Central Jakarta, before continuing to the RW 09 post in Kota Bambu, West Jakarta.
“During the visit, the Vice President not only conducted inspections but also held discussions with residents on night patrol,” the statement said.
Gibran listened to residents describe conditions in their neighborhoods before and after the protests.
He also observed real-time footage from CCTV cameras monitoring alleys in the area.
He praised community efforts to maintain security and urged residents to preserve the tradition of collective vigilance, calling it vital for fostering unity and cooperation.
The statement noted that the Siskamling program reflects President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen national solidarity, especially in the wake of recent unrest.
Authorities have increased efforts to engage communities as part of broader security measures aimed at preventing further disruptions.
