The Ministry of Trade on Thursday has proposed an additional Rp586 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to support operational and non-operational needs.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the ministry’s initial budget ceiling stands at Rp1.40 trillion—down Rp200 billion from the previous year.
The formal request, submitted via letter No. BR.02.00/508/MSTD/SD/08/2025 dated August 12, seeks to raise the total budget to Rp1.98 trillion.
Of the proposed increase, Rp153.91 billion (26.24 percent) is earmarked for operational expenses and Rp432.72 billion (73.76 percent) for non-operational spending.
Santoso, during a working meeting with Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, noted a consistent decline in the ministry’s budget since 2023, totaling a reduction of Rp871.88 billion or 38.37 percent.
He warned that rising operational costs have squeezed non-operational allocations, impacting performance targets in the trade sector.
The 2026 budget will be distributed across three programs: Rp34.46 billion for domestic trade, Rp88.90 billion for international trade, and Rp1.27 trillion for management support.
Funding sources include Rp1.35 trillion (96.82 percent) from the state budget and Rp44.53 billion (3.18 percent) from non-tax revenues.
Spending will be divided into Rp1.19 trillion (85.01 percent) for operational and Rp209.87 billion (14.99 percent) for non-operational expenditures.
