Tangerang Police Chief Sr. Comr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari said on Tuesday that the two arrested suspects were Feng Shangwei (49) and Huang Xiaobo (39). Another suspect, identified as CW (40), is on the wanted list after fleeing to China.
"We have coordinated with the International Relations Division and Interpol to arrest the suspect on the wanted list," Jauhari told a press conference.
The burglary occurred on August 25. The perpetrators stole jewelry, precious metals, and US dollars and rupiah in cash worth a total of around Rp4.5 billion (US$275,000).
CCTV footage showed the suspects climbing the fence, breaking into the house, and taking valuables from the second floor.
Police identified the suspects, who had been staying at a Jakarta hotel and planned to flee to Shanghai. The team coordinated with Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration and Airport Police to intercept them.
CW managed to escape and return to China, while Feng and Huang were arrested as they were about to board a plane.
Jauhari said the suspects have been charged under Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
