In the same statement, Mafindo Chairperson Septiaji Eko Nugroho underscored the rapid growth of deepfakes in Indonesia, which are often used for online fraud and to steer public opinion, especially related to politics.
He emphasized that his organization will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, the media, and literacy activists to carry out fact-checking against hoaxes and deepfakes on the internet.
