"There are 10 agendas that we need to carry out for food resilience," the ministry's Deputy for Food Accessibility and Security, Nani Hendiarti, said at the Katadata Sustainability Action for The Future Economy (SAFE) 2025 event here on Wednesday.
The 10 initiatives carried out by the ministry are, first, restoring the ecosystems and the availability of food-producing land, and second, intensification and assistance for farmers.
The third, fourth, and fifth initiatives are developing community-based food systems, increasing local food diversification, and increasing animal protein consumption, respectively.
Furthermore, the sixth initiative is strengthening innovation and the sustainable national food industry, while the seventh initiative is strengthening logistics systems and food reserves.
The eighth and ninth initiatives are tackling food loss and waste and promoting farmer regeneration, and lastly, the tenth initiative is the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
"We will carry these out until at least the next five years," she affirmed.
The Coordinating Ministry for Food is committed to realizing sustainable food resilience by increasing production, improving distribution, stabilizing prices, and carrying out national programs for the welfare of farmers and the community.
Hendiarti emphasized the importance of food security for Indonesia, considering that food needs continue to increase. President Prabowo Subianto has also prioritized the food sector in the long-term national development.
She noted that the government continues to make various efforts for food self-sufficiency, focusing on increasing production and food reserve availability and improving distribution to ensure its smoothness and accuracy.
"In the National Medium-Term Development Plan and Presidential Regulation Number 12 of 2025, food security is a priority, along with energy, water, and blue economy," she remarked.
