At the Great Lecture seminar here on Thursday, he highlighted that economic growth must be inclusive and equitable so that all levels of society can feel the benefits. This, he said, can be realized through cooperatives.
"Economic transformation should not only be oriented toward big groups and strong capital, but must also cover small, micro enterprises and the informal sector," he said in a statement issued by his ministry.
The newly inaugurated minister also emphasized that cooperatives play a key role as a platform of the people's economy that prioritizes the principle of togetherness.
According to him, through institutional strengthening, digitalization, and the right policy support, cooperatives can become the main force to achieve 8 percent economic growth.
In this regard, the success of the Red and White Village Cooperatives is deemed one of the instruments to achieve the target.
"The Ministry of Cooperatives is committed to making cooperatives not only a symbol of togetherness but also a real national economic force that contributes significantly to growth and the people's welfare," Juliantono remarked.
On the same occasion, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa expressed optimism that the 8-percent economic growth target is possible to be achieved in two to three years with the right fiscal support, investment strengthening, and active participation of all parties.
He also underscored the importance of economic equity so that all parties can feel the benefits.
President Prabowo Subianto officially launched around 80 thousand cooperatives nationwide under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program last July, aimed at strengthening the village economy.
The cooperatives are envisaged as hubs of economic and social services in village communities, offering savings, loans, and clinic services, among others.
