Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto on Friday continued his Middle East visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he met President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional conditions and bilateral relations.

Per the official statement received on Saturday, President Prabowo was welcomed during his arrival in Abu Dhabi by Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He was also welcomed by other officials, including Energy and Infrastructure Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Presidential Advisor Faisal Al Bannai, and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri.

Prabowo's presence at the UAE capital reflected Indonesia's commitment to strengthening friendly relations with Middle Eastern countries.

President Prabowo and President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed strategic issues, including recent developments in the Middle East, bilateral relations that have reached various sectors, and people-to-people relations.

Indonesia viewed Prabowo's visit to the UAE as a reaffirmation of its active position in encouraging global dialogue and cooperation. Moreover, his visit was warmly welcomed by the UAE as Indonesia's strategic partner in the region.

Before visiting the UAE, the president flew to Doha, Qatar, to personally convey Jakarta’s support to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following Israel’s recent airstrike on a residential area in the capital.

“President Prabowo flew to Doha to meet with the emir on Friday afternoon local time. He decided to make the visit promptly in response to Israel’s attack on Doha on Tuesday, September 9,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated.

The Israeli military launched unilateral airstrikes on a residential area in Doha, claiming to target senior members of the Palestinian organization Hamas. The group had gathered for ceasefire negotiations mediated by the United States and Egypt.

According to reports, 15 fighter jets were deployed and 10 bombs were dropped in the fatal attack, which killed five Hamas delegates and one Qatari security officer. A funeral for the victims was held on Thursday, September 11, with Emir Al Thani joining the prayer service.

In response, Qatar has vowed that Israel will face a collective reaction from regional partners.
