Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs welcomed the inaugural World Muslim Scout Jamboree (WMSJ) in Jakarta, calling it a pivotal step in nurturing future Muslim leaders.
"Thank you, Indonesia. This is a historic momentum that will give birth to the next generation of leaders," Deputy Minister Romo Muhammad Syafi'i stated during his visit to the Jamboree campsite on Saturday.
He expressed gratitude to East Java’s Darussalam Gontor pesantren (Islamic boarding school) for pioneering the Muslim Scout Jamboree, which serves as a platform to foster leadership, independence, and Islamic values.
As deputy minister responsible for religious education, Syafi'i voiced full support for the agenda, noting that it reflects a strong commitment to preparing future Muslim leaders.
"I highlight leadership and independence education as the core of the Scout movement here. All of them exist in pesantrens, all of them are in WMSJ," he said.
He also emphasized that the WMSJ teaches inclusivity, allowing participants from various countries and regions to learn from one another. "Our differences are not an obstacle; instead, they will give birth to leaders who can embrace all groups," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Gontor pesantren alumni forum (FPAG) secretary general Anang Rikza Masyhadi said the Muslim Scout Jamboree was created as a response to the ongoing morality crisis and global conflicts.
He expressed hope that WMSJ will nurture ambassadors of peace who can influence others with compassion and brotherhood.
"When global morality declines, WMSJ offers an alternative. It is where the younger generation meets, interacts, and learns together for a peace mission—not only for Indonesia but also for the world," Masyhadi said.
The 2025 World Muslim Scout Jamboree was attended by 15,333 participants from various countries, including 7,149 male scouts, 6,349 female scouts, and 1,718 scout guides. The event was held at the Cibubur Camping Ground in East Jakarta from September 9 to 14, 2025.
