Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro said the KPU is an independent body that operates without influence from other institutions.
"They cannot be influenced by any other institution, including the executive branch. They are an independent institution, and we respect that," he said in Jakarta on Monday.
He noted that the KPU had already explained the policy and that any further inquiries should be directed to the commission.
Earlier, the KPU classified 16 documents required for the registration of presidential and vice-presidential candidates, including educational certificates, as confidential information that cannot be disclosed without permission from the candidates themselves.
The policy is based on KPU Decree No. 731 of 2025, which stipulates that such documents are exempt from public disclosure for five years unless the individuals concerned give written consent or the disclosure relates to their role in public office.
