As he stepped down from his role as Minister of SOEs, Thohir highlighted the dedication, hard work, empathy, and sacrifices of all ministry employees in building both businesses and the nation’s character.
“We are building whole people here, not just corporations. But building people is the most difficult part. You work day and night to transform the corporation,” he said on Friday.
He noted that the Ministry of SOEs had succeeded not only in transformation but also in nurturing people, creating highly driven human resources who also showed strong empathy.
Thohir reminded all SOEs Ministry employees to continue advancing their grand transformation plans and driving state-owned enterprises forward.
“I remind you not to change your identity. Instead, you must improve yourselves because Indonesia needs good people. This nation needs good people, and the President is now encouraging the birth of Danantara, which will become an investment force for our future. You must support it,” he emphasized.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) added that his new role as Minister of Youth and Sports brings a challenging task, empowering 60 million young Indonesians to pursue their dreams and creativity. He is also tasked with uniting communities through sports.
He expressed hope that the SOEs Ministry will continue to advance the nation and the state. Thohir also apologized for any shortcomings during his tenure as SOEs Minister.
“With my utmost respect, during my six years here, I apologize for any mistakes. I did everything for the sake of our nation’s progress,” he said.
On Friday, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi announced the appointment of Deputy SOEs Minister Dony Oskaria as Acting Minister of SOEs.
