Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Dony Oskaria as acting SOE minister to succeed Erick Thohir, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi announced.

“As instructed by the President, and as conveyed to all relevant parties, Dony Oskaria has been appointed acting minister for the SOE Ministry,” Hadi said at a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday.

Hadi explained that Oskaria’s appointment was based on his current role as deputy minister at the SOE Ministry and the fact that he does not serve in Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund agency, Danantara Indonesia.

During his tenure as acting minister, Oskaria is expected to help Danantara expedite efforts to reform state-owned companies.

Hadi added that the President has not set a time limit for Oskaria’s appointment, and he will continue in the position until a definitive minister is named.

Oskaria’s appointment was formalized in an official letter numbered B-20/M/S/AN.00.03/09/2025, dated September 17, 2025, addressed to the President, the Vice President, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and the remaining SOE deputy ministers.

The previous SOE Minister, Erick Thohir, was reassigned to the youth and sports portfolio, replacing Dito Ariotedjo in President Prabowo’s Red and White Cabinet.

Thohir was sworn in to his new post at the State Palace on September 17, but the President did not immediately name his successor, leaving the SOE ministerial seat vacant until now.
