Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has announced the establishment of the Polri Reform and Transformation Team to support the government in reviewing police programs and performance.

“In line with the government’s planned Police Reform Commission, we at Polri have decided to set up an internal team tasked with evaluating all the programs we have implemented,” he told the press at the Police College in South Jakarta on Monday.

He said the team will identify areas that need improvement by gathering input, suggestions, and criticism from various parties, including the public and experts.

“We will pay attention to issues raised by the people because their voices play a crucial role in our improvement efforts,” Prabowo stressed.

He assured the public that the police remain committed to listening and following up on concerns and expectations, including by pursuing institutional reform.

“We continue to move toward reforms to address areas that need fixing, whether in terms of operations, instruments, or oversight. Our reform covers all aspects under public scrutiny. We are always open to improvement,” he affirmed.

The Polri chief officially established the internal team through a letter of command signed on September 17, naming himself as the team’s “protector” and Polri Deputy Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo as advisor.

Head of the Polri Center for Education and Training, Commissioner General Chryshnanda Dwilaksana, has been appointed to lead the team, which consists of 52 senior and mid-ranking police officers.

Amid growing public pressure for a comprehensive overhaul of the National Police, the government has announced a plan to establish the Police Reform Commission, which President Prabowo Subianto is expected to formalize soon through a decree.

On September 17, the president also inaugurated former Polri deputy chief Ahmad Dofiri as his special advisor on public security and police reform. After being sworn in, Dofiri said he would immediately begin structuring the national commission.
