The workers held a protest in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building with their demands, which include support for the National Police (Polri) to enforce the law, a push for the ratification of the Manpower Bill, a rejection of low-wage policies, the abolition of the outsourcing system, and the upholding of civil supremacy.
President of KSPSI, Andi Gani Nena Wea, stated that the plan for mass labor action was only known within the two confederations.
"The aim was to prevent irresponsible parties from attempting to infiltrate," he said in Jakarta on Monday.
The two largest labor confederations in Indonesia, KSPI and KSPSI, reiterated their support for Polri to become more professional and transparent and to listen to the public's aspirations.
Wea rejected the possibility that the Polri reforms were being infiltrated by hidden agendas to replace the Polri's leadership.
"Regarding National Police leadership, it was the president's prerogative and should not be interfered with by anyone," he said.
Meanwhile, President of KSPI, Said Iqbal stated that KSPSI and KSPI firmly support the Prabowo Subianto administration in continuing programs that favor the Indonesian people.
According to Iqbal, House Speaker Puan Maharani and the other leaders will receive the labor delegation.
