Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) will collaborate with ANTARA News Agency to strengthen terrorism prevention campaigns nationwide.

BNPT head Commissioner General Eddy Hartono highlighted ANTARA as one of his agency's strategic partners in its counterterrorism programs.

"This is a mandate of Law Number 5 of 2018 that the government is obliged to prevent terrorism," he said during a visit to the ANTARA Heritage Center in Jakarta on Monday.

In the era of digital transformation, Hartono stressed the importance of utilizing cyberspace as a medium for counter-radicalization programs.

"Digital space can be both a positive and negative tool, depending on how it is used," he said.

He added that collaboration with ANTARA is crucial to advance these terrorism prevention efforts.

"These are our steps. BNPT visited ANTARA today to strengthen counter-radicalization efforts in cyberspace as a priority," he remarked.

ANTARA Editor in Chief Irfan Junaidi welcomed the initiative and acknowledged the agency’s strategic role.

"ANTARA has a very strategic function as an instrument for delivering public information with the widest network, including in the most remote, outermost and underdeveloped regions," he said.

Junaidi emphasized the news agency's readiness to support BNPT through literacy and education programs to ensure the agency can carry out its prevention, response, outreach, and campaign functions more effectively.
