Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed all nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs), or kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program established by the police, to tighten food safety protocols.

"It is vital for SPPGs, especially those managed by the Polri or regional police, to ensure that all meals distributed to schools are ready-to-eat and hygienic," he said during a visit to the Pabelan SPPG at the Semarang Resort Police in Central Java on Tuesday.

In a statement cited in Jakarta, General Prabowo highlighted that the Polri had so far begun the development of 617 MBG kitchens, with 103 already operating, 31 preparing for launch, and 483 still under construction.

"Once all the SPPGs become operational, we can expect them to serve 2,159,000 citizens and employ 30,850 people," he pointed out.

Highlighting SPPG Pabelan, the police chief noted that the kitchen began operations on Monday (September 22) with 50 workers, tasked with meeting the nutritional needs of 3,497 beneficiaries, including schoolchildren, breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women, and toddlers.

Alongside inspecting the newly launched kitchen, the general also used his Semarang visit to review the implementation of Polri's Affordable Food Movement (GPM), which distributes subsidized rice under the government’s Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program.

According to him, the Polri has distributed 72,567 tons of SPHP rice to 54,454 locations as of Monday. He underlined that both SPPG development and GPM implementation reflect the police's commitment to supporting Indonesia’s vision for a golden era in 2045.

"The Polri remains committed to backing government programs to improve public welfare, which serves as crucial capital for Indonesia to transform into a developed country, as envisioned in Golden Indonesia 2045," he concluded.
