Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of universities in accelerating the industrialization process in Indonesia.

"Higher education institutions are centers of growth in Indonesia. In fact, campuses have programs that align with economic growth targets. This is what we must gradually create and support," Yuliarto said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Minister highlighted the many challenges facing Indonesia due to various economic and geopolitical factors.

Therefore, he encouraged academics at all universities in Indonesia to improve the quality and quantity of research based on problems faced by industry and society.

Yuliarto believes that it can foster a mutually beneficial relationship for both parties. Universities can grow as centers of study and solutions, while industry and society will receive answers to their problems.

"The President encouraged Indonesia to rise by reviving our industry. It is impossible for a country to prosper by relying solely on the trade sector," he stressed.

He also underlined that universities are at the forefront of producing human resources in Indonesia. However, the dynamics of the global economy require universities to be prepared to face increasingly complex challenges.

Therefore, he assured that the ministry is committed to continuing to support the strengthening of universities as drivers of innovation and industrialization, in order to achieve sustainable national competitiveness.
