Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Monday launched the mass loan agreement signing for 26,000 subsidized homes under the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme in Bogor, West Java.

He was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait, and two beneficiary representatives.

At the Pesona Kahuripan 10 housing complex, Prabowo symbolically handed over house keys by pressing a siren, while earlier presenting keys to 10 low-income individuals representing diverse professions, including domestic workers, farmers, teachers, the visually impaired, and military and police personnel.

In his remarks, the president underscored the housing sector's dual role in meeting basic needs and boosting economic growth.

"Housing is essential, not only to meet the needs of low-income people but also as an engine of economic development," he said.

Prabowo reiterated the government's target of constructing 3 million homes, urging stakeholders to pursue the goal with determination.

The mass signing, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements and the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera), marks the largest subsidized housing initiative in Indonesia's history, with the 2025 target raised from 220,000 to 350,000 homes.

The program also offers incentives for low-income buyers, including waivers on land and building acquisition duties and value-added tax (VAT).
